Zurich: Government Council proposes increase in deduction for childcare expenses
On July 13, 2022, the Government Council of the Canton of Zurich submitted a proposal to the Cantonal Council for an increase in the deduction for childcare costs in state and municipal taxes.
The deduction should now amount to a maximum of Fr. 25 000 per year and child (previously Fr. 10 000) and thus be aligned with the solution at federal level for direct federal tax (LINK FINEAC). The increase is intended to improve the compatibility of family and career, with the maximum amount corresponding to the cost of a full-time and non-subsidized daycare place in the canton of Zurich. To deduct the costs, however, it is up to the taxpayer to prove the actual costs, as before.
